Color: Also seen in Bridal Fashion, we are seeing more and more color in men’s suits. More specific, designers are creating suits in lighter and darker shade of blue. Going with a neutral, skinny tie would bring this look together to create a indy look for your Groom!

Mismatched Prints: This look will have to be taken with caution. You do not want a mismatched suit that looks like he chose his suit with  his eyes closed. Much like when you are mismatching your Bridesmaids dress, you have to match colors, or stay within the same color palette. When it’s done right, this is a totally cute look for your man!

Suspenders: This trend comes hand in hand with the vintage, bohemian trend we are seeing in weddings. Suspenders work for a farm wedding, to a wedding with a little more rock and roll! Our Groom will fully appreciate this trend if you are having a beautiful outdoor wedding in the middle of a hot August afternoon.

Pop of Color: Okay, so your man does not want to wear a blue suit, well how about a neutral suit with a pop of color? Event Decorator loves creating a boutonniere with bold colors to pop out against your Groom’s suit. Color can also be brought in with his tie, or bow!  

Velvet Suits: Having a fall or winter wedding? This look will be perfect for your Groom. Velvet adds a fancy, loyal feel for your wedding day, not to mention you won’t be able to keep your hands off!

Affordable Tuxedos: Do not have a wedding budget that allows for a Tuxedo? No problem, many designers are now cutting suits with modern cuts creating a tuxedo-like feel in a suit. Most stores carry low price suits with a modern cut that will look great – No one will even know it was on sale!

Skinny Tie: This look can be used in every type of wedding, whether your having an elegant affair, a farm wedding, or a winter wonderland. A skinny tie will be sure to tie your Groom’s look together. Men’s suits are fitting slimmer, so it only makes sense to have a skinny tie.

Hazlitt Vintage Rentals

Selena Hazlitt runs this vintage rental company from Goderich, ON. They deliver to South Western Ontario, Niagara Region and the Greater Toronto Area.

Marvelle Vintage Inspired Rentals

This husband and wife team are based out of Caledon, ON. They not only run a rental company but have turned their property (a former apple orchard, complete with a pond and barn ruins) into a photo shoot location. They service the Greater Toronto Area as well as Central and Southern Ontario and will travel further upon request.

The Warehouse

The Warehouse is a 2200 square foot location loaded with antique and vintage finds. Run by Liz Hawley, you will find this rental warehouse in charming Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Vintage Vignettes

Reena Wiseman is the founder of this vintage rental company. Specializing in table décor and smaller items, she is working towards incorporating larger items such as furniture into her rental inventory. Delivery is available within the Greater Toronto Area, surrounding areas by request.

Vintage China Hire

Vintage China Hire provides rentals of individually sourced crockery from England. They also work in partnership with Loic Gourmet for catered tea parties as well as with Cakes By Konstadin providing custom vintage cake packages, matching cupcakes and mini cakes to the intricate detailing of the china dish it comes on. We’ve been privileged to work with Vintage China Hire on a few photo shoots. You can see them here and here.

This trendy over the top fun experience is crazy and with the right photographer that’s not scared to get a little dirty it’s something you will never, ever forget! The photos created from doing such a thing are absolutely stunning, they may be a bit edgier, but I find they add a lot of honestly, personality and natural beauty to the pictures… much nicer than bridal parties placed in rows for a group picture. These photos are romance revived!

Now some brides go to ultimate extremes when it comes to creating a memorable wedding album… the hot not-so-new trend of “trash the dress photography” – yes, that is actually it’s official name involves brides being shot destroying their dresses with really whatever they can get their hands on!

From down to earth..

Completely over the top..

And everything inbetween..

The result is a fierce artistic expression, some reminiscent of a fantasy or fairytale scene… very, very cool if you can cope with destroying a beautiful piece of clothing. You can find a personal, fun and 100% unforgettable way to trash that dress and get the wedding photos every couple dreams of getting their hands on!

The feeling of accomplishment I felt after creating my first bouquet was amazing.  Every time you turn the bouquet a new and inspiring brooch comes to play.  I have only designed with antique brooches to date but I love the addition of the tin brooches and the idea of adding personal photos.  Finesse is in the details.  I have a fantastic one I am working on now that is a mix of vintage and crystal brooches.  My bride is wearing hot pink and black so the bouquet will have so much depth on her dress.  She promises to share photos after the wedding!

I find this trend irresistible since it allows you to incorporate family treasures into your bouquet. Perhaps your grandmother would be willing to lend you a few. Or, maybe you inherited brooches from a family member that pass away and you can incorporate these pieces as a tribute to him/her. Some brides even asked friends and family to each send a brooch. Then grabbed all the brooches and assembled them to take the form of a bouquet. The day of the wedding everyone could see his or her piece in the bouquet… how sweet is that? You could also check out ebay or thrift stores to located some to match your color palette.

Not only these bouquets  are stunning, they also make a fantastic keepsake from your wedding… a bouquet that will last forever!

With Hunter Boots finally hitting South Africa, it seems like the perfect time to do a roundup of one of my favourite bridal accessories. Sure, we love a hot pair of heels. But nothing is cuter (or more practical) for wet weather than for a bride (and bridesmaids!) to have a pair of wellies to change into while traipsing around the bushes for the couple shoot. You won’t see them under your dress for most shots, but make sure you get a couple where you do because as you can see, they are ah-frikkin-dorable!

This is one thing I really wish we’d done when one of my besties got married in Durban last December. Despite it being midsummer, it rained for days beforehand and most of the actual wedding day, and knowing we were stocked up with stylish wet weather gear would have taken a lot of the stress out of the day. Fortunately the clouds cleared right in time for the ceremony and the grounds were fine for pictures afterwards, but I still think a pair of wellies would have made for some cute photos that would have helped them remember the day as it actually was, cloudbursts and all!

Of course, Hunters are the royalty of wellingtons and much as we love them you may want something a bit more economical. My advice is that if you’re getting married anywhere near rainy season to keep an eye out for a cute pair from when you start planning your wedding and buy them straight away (along with a couple of sweet umbrellas that go with your colour scheme). They’re the kind of thing that can be hard to find last minute, so save yourself the trouble just in case and, if you’re lucky enough to have a bright, bright sunshiney day, you can always find an excuse to wear them! (Even if it’s just a bit of cheeky gumboot dancing )
