We are always excited when we get asked to produce a custom shoot. When a magazine Editor trusts us with the creative vision and allows our imagination and abilities as designers to shine. Angela Desveaux Editor-in-Chief and Founder of WedLuxe Magazine did just that for our July shoot at beautiful Miller Lash House in Toronto. The result was a unique an inspiring design that included a brooch bouquet that will become a family heirloom. A bouquet that took 9 hours of tedious detail, months of collecting vintage brooches and turned into a labour of love! A bouquet that was passed on to the beautiful Lindsay Meijer (now Lindsay Eminger) to carry down the ailse on August 7th.

I wanted to share the beautiful email I received for Lindsay’s Mother, Maribeth about the amazing brooch bouquet. Check out how fantastic Lindsay looked with the bouquet!

“There were so many comments about the flowers in particular and the vintage brooch ‘twist’ to the theme was a HUGE success. The brooches in the centrepieces were noted. We decided to give the aunts on my side of the family each a one to wear at the ceremony and beyond (since there were corsages for the other side of the family) and they were all very touches and LOVED the idea.

Of course, most of all – the Brooch Bouquet – there are NO WORDs to describe the beauty…. from the moment Lindsay saw it, her floral bouquet was set aside and she decided to carry the brooch bouquet…. everyone was talking – what is it? what is she carrying? can I see it? We all imagined the life stories of those vintage brooches sprinkled throughout the room…. where they had been , who had owned them – it was like a hundred more lives of experience were there with us on Saturday. The bouquet will be a unique keepsake that brought our brooch collection, and your creativity together to make a keepsake of a lifetime. Who knows, we may have started a new family tradition – the next generation may also carry it at their weddings.”

Her comments brought tears to my eyes and reminded me to stop and reflect on the memories and moments in time that we are so lucky to design. Creating something custom and unique that will be a moment in time. I wanted to share some detail images taken of the brooch bouqet, floral purse and handtied bouquet after the photo shoot. Mini antique brooches adorned the handle of this vintage brooch bouquet.

Beutiful ribbon from Mokuba accented the design and brought out the colours of the antique brooches.

This unique purse bouquet could be carried by Bride, Mother or Bridesmaids.

I love the detailing on the purse!

This elegant bouquet is a compliment to the brooch or purse bouquet. You may choose to have two types of bouquets for your wedding day photographs!

Charlotte and Steve – Toronto Botanical Gardens

Charlotte and Steve were married on a beautiful sunny day in September 2009 in Toronto. The magnificent gardens at Toronto Botanical Gardens added so much to their stunning photos. Charlotte had a distinct vision of brown and orange as the colours for her wedding. Natural branch and calla centerpieces that stood 4′ off the table left our floral designers back sore for a week! Charlotte was our emotional Bride for 2009 and we had many tearful moments leading up to the perfect day. A fun, yet elegant theme was incorporated into the day for guests who travelled from around the globe. Long distance planning played a large role in this wedding as the Bride and Groom were living in Germany. Kudos to Jessica for executing so many amazing planning details! The stunning photography was shot by the team of Erika and Ryan at Rowell Photography. It is always a pleasure to work with this dynamic, edgy team. We wish Steve much success in the NHL! Behind the Scenes – eventdecorator.com Advertising Shoot

We worked with a fabulous team to bring our new 2010 advertising campaign to print. My vision was to create a unique custom setting to showcase our talents for new magazine advertising. All shot out in the water on a raft! My parents were so kind to give up their motorhome for our headquarters at their waterfront. Rowell Photography shot our design concepts so beautifully. Lori from the Caketress made incredible mini cakes and Emily our model gave off the perfect balance of elegance and attitude. My Son Travis, not so willingly posed as our male model.

The challenge was producing this shoot on a raft, on choppy water! My design board predicated sunny sky and calm waters. Not in the forecast this day! Funny moments included Ryan in my Fathers hip waders trying to shoot in the lake, Erika in a small tipsy boat working on lighting, Emily’s funny faces and Steve holding desperately to the hanging floral arrangement that wanted to spin in circles around the table! End result… beautiful images that will mark our 2010 advertising campaign.

I am so excited to post our first blog! I have so many fabulous images from our 2009 portfolio it is hard to decide where to start. Our goal is to share as many inspiring ideas as possible with our readers. Always striving to reach new heights!

I would like to thank my friends Erika and Ryan from Rowell Photography for guiding me through the blogging process. It is the perfect opportunity to share images of a table I designed for their anniversary dinner this summer. My parent’s waterfront property set the scene. Unfortunately the mosquitoes drove them away before they could enjoy the setting by candlelight! The joys of the Muskoka Region…
